I think it would be quite enjoyable with a fresh style of humor that's only done well occasionally. Sometimes this type of humor can be hard to pull off on screen (seems to translate, imo, better in writing), but it was handled flawlessly! It's hard for me to say how those who are unfamiliar with the source material would take this series. The acting was amazing! David Tennant never disappoints! All the actors did well at bringing their characters to life. A very faithful adaption versus a tale that was just inspired by the source material. The two worlds rarely interact, due to the negative effects of each realms silk which cripples anyone from the opposite. This adaption was BRILLIANTLY done! It's been 20 years since I read this book, and it was like watching the story come alive on screen. You definitely get that "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" feeling in the narration of this series, for those unfamiliar with Pratchet's quirky humor style. ![]() ![]() Terry Pratchet has always been a favorite of mine, as well as Douglas Adams. I LOVED it!!! I read the book, Good Omens, when I was teenager (I'm now 35.) I remember thoroughly enjoying the book when I was younger, but I read so often then that a lot of stories ran together.

![]() It would have ended off on a real high note. In fact, if the show had ended at season 3, I think a lot more fans of The Last Airbender would have appreciated The Legend of Korra more. ![]() Zaheer is the most interesting antagonist since Amon, and Korra actually starts to show real growth this season as she takes her position as Avatar gravely serious and tempers her hot-headedness. He also eventually helps break other powerful benders out of captivity to form a group called “The Red Lotus.” Exciting stuff. But probably the biggest change this season that propels the plot is that people start getting the ability to airbend again, which actually impacts Korra since the main antagonist this season, Zeheer (Voice by Henry freaking Rollins) acquires airbending abilities, too. And the ramifications of what happened in Book 2 concerning the Spirit Realm seep into this season, as spirit vines are popping up all over Republic City. For one thing, fan favorite Zuko returns as an old man. Its been three years since Zaheer poisoned Korra and the members of Team Avatar have moved on with their lives Kai and Opal help a struggling Earth Kingdom town. Just like Avatar.īook 3, which, during its initial run was first on Nickeloeon proper, and then concluded on because of the show’s declining ratings, is the series’ best season since so much happens. But Amon, with his desire to make everybody equal, is just such a compelling villain that it elevated the show from being a disappointment to must-watch TV. And it’s a good thing that Amon is such a good villain, since all the other new characters-Bolin, Mako, Tenzen, Asami, and especially Korra-just seemed like lesser versions of all the characters we grew to love on Avatar: The Last Airbender. A character who can take bending away from benders? It sounds too horrible to be true. So why is this season so high up on this list? Because of one character-Amon.Īmon is the best antagonist in the entire series since he brings so much fear and tension. And when you look back at the entire season, it has the fewest chapters with only 12. Plus, all the characters don’t seem nearly as interesting as those found in ATLA. The first few chapters are painfully slow as they’re mired in stuff like the pro-bending league (Gawd!), and all the world building. |
