I think it would be quite enjoyable with a fresh style of humor that's only done well occasionally. Sometimes this type of humor can be hard to pull off on screen (seems to translate, imo, better in writing), but it was handled flawlessly! It's hard for me to say how those who are unfamiliar with the source material would take this series. The acting was amazing! David Tennant never disappoints! All the actors did well at bringing their characters to life. A very faithful adaption versus a tale that was just inspired by the source material. The two worlds rarely interact, due to the negative effects of each realms silk which cripples anyone from the opposite. This adaption was BRILLIANTLY done! You definitely get that "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" feeling in the narration of this series, for those unfamiliar with Pratchet's quirky humor style. ![]() ![]() Terry Pratchet has always been a favorite of mine, as well as Douglas Adams. I LOVED it!!! I read the book, Good Omens, when I was teenager (I'm now 35.) I remember thoroughly enjoying the book when I was younger, but I read so often then that a lot of stories ran together.

![]() It would have ended off on a real high note. In fact, if the show had ended at season 3, I think a lot more fans of The Last Airbender would have appreciated The Legend of Korra more. ![]() Zaheer is the most interesting antagonist since Amon, and Korra actually starts to show real growth this season as she takes her position as Avatar gravely serious and tempers her hot-headedness. He also eventually helps break other powerful benders out of captivity to form a group called “The Red Lotus.” Exciting stuff. But probably the biggest change this season that propels the plot is that people start getting the ability to airbend again, which actually impacts Korra since the main antagonist this season, Zeheer (Voice by Henry freaking Rollins) acquires airbending abilities, too. And the ramifications of what happened in Book 2 concerning the Spirit Realm seep into this season, as spirit vines are popping up all over Republic City. For one thing, fan favorite Zuko returns as an old man. Its been three years since Zaheer poisoned Korra and the members of Team Avatar have moved on with their lives Kai and Opal help a struggling Earth Kingdom town. Just like Avatar.īook 3, which, during its initial run was first on Nickeloeon proper, and then concluded on because of the show’s declining ratings, is the series’ best season since so much happens. But Amon, with his desire to make everybody equal, is just such a compelling villain that it elevated the show from being a disappointment to must-watch TV. And it’s a good thing that Amon is such a good villain, since all the other new characters-Bolin, Mako, Tenzen, Asami, and especially Korra-just seemed like lesser versions of all the characters we grew to love on Avatar: The Last Airbender. A character who can take bending away from benders? It sounds too horrible to be true. So why is this season so high up on this list? Because of one character-Amon.Īmon is the best antagonist in the entire series since he brings so much fear and tension. And when you look back at the entire season, it has the fewest chapters with only 12. Plus, all the characters don’t seem nearly as interesting as those found in ATLA. The first few chapters are painfully slow as they’re mired in stuff like the pro-bending league (Gawd!), and all the world building. On the other hand, if they did this with the intention of being serious and create a good cover, then i guess embarrassing is the term I would apply here _ I have nothing against well established bands trolling a bit for fun sake, I agree with the review from a musical standpoint but also laughed my ass off, it sure is hilarious and a bit of harmless dumbassery never hurt anyone, This is the kind of shitty cover that some YouTube bands made up of 16 year olds makes to get some clicks, not something a well established death metal band does. ![]() The tone of the music is deeply incompatible with the lyrics and the general feeling of the music. Don't get me wrong, I actually enjoy Eiffel 65's song, and good covers, even of artists or bands that are completely different from one another can be a lot of fun, but this is neither fun or interesting. But to be fair, their very next EP and following LP were both extremely disapointing and they had already began their descent towards mediocrity. From there, everything came together quite quickly. Can't believe these guys once released the masterpiece that is Oracles. I sent it to our group chat and everyone went crazy. It was super rough and had the TV audio in the background. I grabbed my laptop and recorded the idea into the onboard microphone. "The idea went cold for a while until one Sunday a melody came to my head whilst watching A Place in the Sun. We were bouncing ideas over to Gabry but nothing seemed to stick. "It was quite a process, we worked on around 50 versions including various re-writes and vocalists. "We knew from the start we wanted to re-write a version that borrowed just the hook," they explained. ![]() SONDR's take on the song is more than a straightforward 2019 remix. "It was one of our first introductions to dance music! 20 years on we thought it would be a fun challenge to re-work the song with a modern twist, so we reached out to Gabry Ponte from Eiffel 65." SONDR's name may not be hugely familiar to you yet but pair - Yk Koi and Lorenzo Cosi - have racked up over 100 million streams globally with their work, including recent collaborations with Felix Jaehn, Lenny Kravitz and this very popular remix of Ed Sheeran's Castle On The Hill.īut why did SONDR decide to take on this dance classic in the first place? "For anyone who grew up in the 90s, Blue (Da Ba Dee) probably brings back some great memories," they told us. Their version is called So Blue and it's out this Friday (Oct. ![]() Two decades on, the song has been reworked by production duo SONDR. The track has notched up 1.38 million chart sales in the UK, over a million of which are pure sales/downloads. Eiffel 65 - a trio of Italian producers - told the story behind Blue in great depth in this Vice documentary earlier this year. It was written in two hours, it was Europop and its music video featured strange-looking blue men. 20 years ago this month the story of a little guy that lives in a blue world became a surprise hit: Blue (Da Ba Dee) by relatively unknown group Eiffel 65 landed at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart and went on to sell over one million copies.īlue (Da Ba Dee) was somewhere between a novelty hit and a serious dance tune. Keep get - ting the feel - ing you wan - na = 88 Original key: G Major (a half step lower) History Words and Music by Edward Drewett, Julian C Bunetta, John Ryan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Wayne Hector It makes you pine all the more for the return of Bad Company - perhaps the last time a DICE campaign didn't have a severe case of tonal whiplash.Īt least Bad Company comes to mind in a more favourable fashion once you're deep into the multiplayer, where demolition is ramped up to a degree we haven't really seen since that beautiful brace of games. They're awfully serious, too (apart from when they're not - the one episode that shoots for any levity, Under No Flag, stars a pair of cockerneeees so undercooked it can lead to severe nausea), shooting for the no man's land between Terrence Malick and Michael Bay and ending up with the emotional depth of a John Lewis Christmas ad. :: Best gaming keyboards 2019: Digital Foundry's picks They do well to fold in some of Battlefield's staples into their levels - these are big open spaces with multiple objectives to tend to - but they're undone by an overreliance on spotty stealth and broken AI, making them all something of a slog and entirely inessential. That sombre tone is at its most cloying through the single-player War Stories, a trio of two hour episodes that highlight 'untold tales' - the Norwegian resistance in one, Senegalese colonial troops in the French army in another as well as the British Special Boat Services, with the final story on a German tank crew to follow. It's satisfying stuff, but do be sure to put aside a fair amount of time for even a single round. Grand Operations is the big new thing here - an extension of Battlefield 1's Operations, it strings together various game modes in one coherent whole. It makes for some of the most fun I've had with Battlefield since the heady days of Bad Company - not that fun is something that's encouraged by the sombre tone throughout Battlefield 5 (a tone that was absent in the upbeat reveal trailer, which suggest that maybe there was a change of gear in the run-up to release). Put that down to another episode of epic mismanagement from EA, and take some pity on DICE, because the game it's crafted beneath all that chaos is frequently fantastic a shoring up of the Battlefield formula with a suite of new systems that can come together beautifully. Small wonder the sense of anticipation around this one has been particularly muted. Such omissions and scarcity of features is all collateral from EA's move from its older business model towards free, regular updates, though Battlefield 5 feels so incomplete at launch as it veers away from the dreaded season pass at times it feels more like an Early Access title. ![]() The co-op mode that was announced at launch isn't coming until later as, for that matter, is one of the four single-player War Stories, another planned piece of post-release support. The inevitable Battle Royale mode - surely the perfect fit for DICE's own brand of chaos - isn't out until next March. ![]() ![]()

Be prepared to rewrite and rewrite as you hone your novel. ![]() Have a close friend whose opinion you trust (and who likes to read) read it over. Once you have a fairly finished rough draft, put it away for a week or two and don't think about it. Writing can take weeks, months or even years. ![]() Write through the times you decide you hate your novel. Try to write every day, for at least a portion of the hours you set up for yourself. Sometimes it's even better to start at the place that feels the most alive, because it will spark your energy and enthusiasm. You can start at the scene that speaks the most to you. You don't have to start at the beginning of your novel. Early-morning hours, late afternoon - whenever your mind is freshest. Once your outline feels solid (this can take several weeks as well), you can begin to set your writing schedule. You may want to share your outline with a friend - even talking out your idea can help you get a feeling for its shape and scope - and get some feedback. While a comedy is intended to make the reader feel amused, a dramatic novel should hit a reader in the guts with an emotional idea, a tense situation, or an intriguing character. A dramatic novel should have the ability to move its reader. Once your outline is in place, take a hard look at it. An outline might save you from burnout, when you get halfway through your novel and the buzz has worn off. Remember, the more detailed the outline, the easier the actual writing is when you get to that point. They should start one way and by facing the problem in the novel, they should be changed by the end. However, an outline can help you sort your rough ideas into an order, and to help you focus your characters - to make sure your characters each have an arc. Some writers opt to skip the outline, since it can kill the buzz, and just go right to the writing. Act 2 establishes the conflict, and the end of Act 2 culminates in the novel's climax. For a dramatic novel, you'll need a solid three-act structure. Open a new file titled "Outline." Here is where you will start shaping the plot of your novel. This is the messy, inspirational section, so let 'er rip. Better to have more fresh ideas collected here than less. This is the gathering stage, and can be fun. This may take several days or weeks, as things occur to you and you add them into your file. Don't stop to wonder if it's any good or makes any sense. This is the first step - just emptying your mind into this file with everything crazy you're thinking about. You'll want to create a file called "Novel Notes" and start typing in your ideas as they occur to you. Some writers start with a character, some start with a general story idea, some start with a particular setting. If you're thinking about writing a dramatic novel, you probably already have an inkling of what you want to write about. |
